Update on hearing programme
Lord Bracadale has given an update on forthcoming hearings.
As the Inquiry resumed this week, he said in 2024 the Inquiry expected to conduct hearings relating to:
- the investigation carried out by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) from 06 February into early March
- the direction of the investigation by the Lord Advocate, together with certain other evidence, from April into May
- race, and whether it was a factor in Mr Bayoh’s death, in June
As hearings resumed on 06 February, 75 days of evidence had been heard.
Lord Bracadale added: “I anticipate that all the remaining evidence should be completed by the end of the year.”
A final report will be prepared and produced once all evidence has been heard and reviewed.
Dates of hearings and witness schedules will be published on the website in advance.
